Kebbi Lawmaker Visits Windstorm-Stricken Communities, Promises Relief for Victims

Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria, May 7, 2026 (Series News Online) - Hon. Barr. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, the representative of Suru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has visited communities in Aljannare recently devastated by a strong windstorm that left several families without shelter.  

Communities hit by the disaster include Sambera, Jeroki, Becinga, Nassarawa, Tunga Soja, Tauken Mage, Tunga Muminu Oro, and Ciwan Wanzam, where numerous houses and valuables were reported destroyed.  

While touring the affected areas to evaluate the extent of the damage, Hon. Maisudan expressed grief over the incident and offered reassurance to the victims. “My heart goes out to you in this difficult moment, and I urge you to accept it as a trial from Almighty Allah,” he said.  

He committed to raising the matter before the Kebbi State House of Assembly and Governor Nasir Idris to secure immediate assistance. “I will make sure your condition is presented to the appropriate authorities so that urgent support can reach you without delay,” he assured.  

The legislator was joined on the assessment tour by personnel from the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, as well as the Chairman of the Bulaman Gwandu Foundation, Alhaji Abubakar Mai Daga, Alhaji Muhammed Nasiru Slana, and other APC stakeholders.  

Members of the SEMA team informed residents that relief interventions would be mobilized promptly. “The state government will send necessary relief supplies in due course to help reduce the burden on the affected households,” a SEMA official stated.  

Prior to the assessment, Hon. Maisudan also visited the home of Education Officer Sanusi Musa Fana, which was razed in a separate fire outbreak that destroyed all his possessions.  

Residents who hosted the lawmaker praised his continued presence during times of crisis. Alhaji Murtala Shetu, Alhaji Umaru Tunga Tinni, and other community members said his actions demonstrated responsible leadership. “We are deeply appreciative of your compassion and humanitarian efforts. You consistently make it a point to visit areas in your constituency facing emergencies,” they said.  

They concluded, “Our only reward to you is our prayers to Almighty Allah to grant you success and enable you to keep serving the people as you have always done.”
