Kebbi Govt Distributes Over N10 Million Housing, Transport Aid to Afforestration Staff Quarters Residents

The Kebbi State Government, through the Ministry of Environment, has disbursed more than ten million naira in financial assistance to occupants of the Afforestration Staff Quarters in Bulasa, Birnin Kebbi. The aid is intended to help residents meet rental obligations and cover relocation transport costs as the quarters are slated for renovation and conversion into a security base.

Honorable Commissioner for Environment, Muhammad Musa Tungulawa disclosed this while addressing the beneficiaries during a handover ceremony. He said:

“We have 13 occupants who are to benefit from this financial assistance. You will recall that two weeks ago you were served with a vacation quick notice that will elapse on 25 December 2025, giving you exactly one good month to relocate.”

Tungulawa explained that the support follows a request by the occupants many of whom are retirees to the governor, which was conveyed to His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu. The governor approved the assistance, and the ministry was tasked with delivering it.

“The occupants of three‑bedroom units will receive ₦750,000 for rent and ₦250,000 for transport; two‑bedroom units get ₦500,000 for rent and ₦200,000 for transport; and those in boys’ quarters receive ₦500,000 and ₦100,000 for transport,” Tungulawa added. In total, four staff in three‑bedroom flats received ₦1 million each, three staff in two‑bedroom flats received ₦700,000 each, and six staff in boys’ quarters received ₦600,000 each.

The commissioner was accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed and other senior ministry officials.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Phillip Zange (three‑bedroom occupant), spoke to journalists, confirming receipt of ₦1 million. He said:

“We thank and appreciate the financial assistance offered to us. We also appeal for an extension of the quick notice, since 25  December is Christmas day, and request at least one or two weeks to fully vacate.”

The initiative underscores Governor Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu’s commitment to improving security infrastructure while ensuring displaced residents receive humane support.
