Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has flagged off the dualization of Abdulsalami Road in Jega town, Jega Local Government Area, as part of his administration's efforts to transform the state's infrastructure.
The project, valued at ₦5.14 billion, is expected to be completed within 12 months by Habibu Engineering Nigeria Limited.
"The scope of work covers full scarification of the carriageway and shoulders, filling of embankments, construction of reinforced concrete drains on both sides, access culverts, stone pitching, asphalt surfacing, road markings, and the creation of four new roundabouts," said Arc. Sa’ad Musa Sakaba, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works.
Arc. Sakaba explained that the total cost comprises ₦3.58 billion for main works, ₦72 million for relocation of water pipes, and ₦1.48 billion as compensation for affected structures.
Governor Idris stated that progress cannot be achieved unless Jega is opened up for more infrastructural development.
"We are committed to delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State," he said.
Other ongoing projects in the state include the renovation of Jega Hospital, approval for nine general hospital renovations, completion of 47 primary healthcare centres, plans for 45 more, and rehabilitation of both primary and secondary schools.
"We are touching every sector, from health and education to security enhancement and poverty eradication," Governor Idris said.
He urged residents to continue supporting his administration, assuring them that the government truly belongs to the people of Jega and the entire Kebbi State.
