BREAKING: "Massive Fire Destroys Kara Market in Birnin Kebbi"

A devastating fire outbreak ravaged the Kara market along Sani Abacha Bypass Road in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on Sunday morning. The fire is suspected to have started at about 10 to 11 am. Eyewitnesses claim the fire emanated from three large shops selling building materials that are reportedly joined together.

"I was inside my compound when I saw heavy smoke all over the wood market known as Kara market," a resident said. "After I got there, I discovered that three large shops selling building materials were on fire. Some wood shops are also suspected to have been affected."

The fire prompted a swift response from fire service officials, with at least five fire trucks rushing to the scene to put out the blaze. "Immediately, people around the area called for help, and the fire service officials arrived promptly to put out the fire," the resident added.

As of the time of filing this report, the extent of the damage and the number of shops affected are yet to be ascertained. The cause of the fire is also still unknown. Our correspondent attempted to reach the authorities for an official statement but was unable to get in touch with them.

When our correspondent spoke with one of the shop owners in the market, he declined to comment, citing the traumatic nature of the incident. "We're in a state of shock, and our minds aren't clear. We'll speak when we're calm," he said.
