GBV: Kebbi TWG Presents 16 Days Activism Report, Seeks First Lady's Approval for 2025 Work Plan

The Technical Working Group (TWG) on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) presented a comprehensive report on the 2024 "16 Days of Activism Against GBV" campaign and the 2025 Work Plan to Her Excellency Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, the First Lady of Kebbi State and Chairperson of the TWG on GBV. 

The meeting, held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, aimed to strengthen the partnership between the TWG and the Kebbi State Government in combating GBV.

Comrade Nasiru Idris, State Secretary of the TWG on GBV, emphasized the need to revamp current mechanisms for awareness creation and grassroots sensitization. "In the upcoming 2025 campaign, advocacy efforts will be broadened to involve more stakeholders across various sectors to deepen participation and foster stronger engagement in the fight against gender-based violence," Idris stated. 

A key highlight of the meeting was the submission of a detailed report on the mission to establish four additional Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs) across the state. These centers aim to enhance accessibility to GBV-related services across the state’s Emirates, providing critical support to survivors of gender-based violence.

Strategic Interventions for a Coordinated Response

The TWG on GBV 2025 Work Plan outlines strategic interventions to ensure a more coordinated and impactful response to GBV across Kebbi State. The plan reinforces the group’s commitment to humanitarian, para-legal, and social justice service delivery. Her Excellency will review the plan and approve its implementation.

The discussions underscore the First Lady's dedication to addressing GBV holistically. This engagement demonstrates Kebbi State’s commitment to resolving and protecting vulnerable populations and promoting gender equality through structured collaboration and sustained advocacy. The TWG on GBV's efforts showcase the impact of collaborative leadership in addressing critical issues like GBV.
