2025 Hajj Pilgrimage: Kebbi State Governor Appoints Emir of Argungu Amirul Hajj

Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the appointment of Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama'ila Muhammad Mera, CON, as the Amirul Hajj of the state for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. This appointment is part of the government's preparations to ensure a smooth and successful pilgrimage for Muslim faithfuls from Kebbi State.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala, the Governor has also approved the membership of the State Government's delegation for the 2025 Hajj. The delegation comprises prominent personalities from various segments of the state, including government officials, traditional leaders, and security agencies.

The members of the delegation include Hon. Muhammad Abubakar Lolo and Hon. Abdullahi Danjumma, both members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly; Barr. Attahiru Maccido, Chief of Staff, Government House; Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education; and Hajiya Halima Hassan, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development.

Other members of the delegation are Nasiru Jafaru Abdullahi, District Head of Shanga; Alh. Haruna Ilyasu Bashar, District Head of Raha; Alh. Muktar Musa Wasagu, Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom; Alh. Isah Haruna Rasheed, District Head of Ambursa; C.P. Bello Isah, Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State; Hon. Mohammed Bello Yakubu, Chairman, SEMA; Danjumma Illo Yauri; Alh. Bashir Isah Mera, Chairman, APC Augie Local Government; Hajiya Ramatu Usman, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Animal Health; and Permanent Secretary Sahabi Boyi, who will serve as the Secretary of the Hajj delegation.

The terms of reference for the Hajj Committee include overseeing Hajj activities, ensuring the smooth operation of the pilgrimage, and ensuring compliance with all agreements reached between the Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA), the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and the Airline Operators. The delegation is also expected to relate with PWA to render advice on issues that would ensure the smooth conduct of the operation.

Governor Idris's appointment of highly respected and experienced individuals to lead the Hajj delegation affirms his commitment to ensuring a seamless and well-organized pilgrimage for Muslim faithfuls in Kebbi State. This move demonstrates the government's dedication to the welfare of its citizens, particularly during significant religious events like the Hajj pilgrimage.

As noted by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, "Governor Idris's foresight and leadership quality in appointing highly respected and experienced individuals affirms his commitment to ensuring seamless and well-organized pilgrimage for Muslim faithfuls in Kebbi State." This sentiment underscores the government's efforts to prioritize the well-being and spiritual needs of its citizens.
