Birnin Kebbi - A Professor of Sociology and former Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Tukur Muhammad Baba, has emphasized that integrity, truthfulness, respect, and transparency are the core values that will propel Nigeria to greatness.
Professor Baba made this assertion on Friday in Birnin Kebbi, while serving as a special guest and facilitator at the 2025 retreat organized by the Kebbi State Office of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for its staff.
He stressed that development must start from the grassroots, and young men must be productive members of society. He also advised leaders to pursue honesty rather than popularity, which would leave an indelible legacy.
Professor Baba expressed concern over the current state of insecurity in Nigeria and the lack of patriotism among some elites. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to salvage the nation.
A former Kebbi State Director of NOA, Abubakar Umar Babuga, commended the agency for organizing the retreat. He advised NOA to perform its role as a vanguard of public enlightenment and education of government policies and programs.
Kebbi State NOA Director, Nasiru Karofi, described the retreat as a crucial stage for the effective and efficient discharge of the agency's mandate. He emphasized the need for partnership with government agencies, the media, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to achieve the agency's objectives.
Other speakers at the forum included Ibrahim Abdullahi, Amina Kabir, and Hassana Yusuf Muhammad, who explained the mission and vision of the agency.
