The Federal Ministry of Works has issued a stern warning to road contractors handling federal projects in Niger State, urging them to avoid laxity in executing their projects. This warning was given by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, during a meeting with contractors and state government officials in Abuja.
Senator Umahi expressed concerns over the inability of many contractors to meet contractual agreements, emphasizing that the meeting was part of the Federal Government's transparency agenda on contracts. The minister's directive brought together contractors and state government officials to address delays in project execution.
The meeting was a response to the minister's directive, which aimed to tackle delays in federal road projects in Niger State. By convening this meeting, Senator Umahi demonstrated the ministry's commitment to ensuring timely completion of projects and promoting accountability among contractors.
Senator Umahi's warning is consistent with the ministry's recent actions, such as the termination of contracts for non-compliance, as seen in the case of Messrs Julius Berger (Nig.) Plc for the Rehabilitation of Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway. This move underscores the ministry's resolve to enforce strict adherence to contractual agreements and promote transparency in the execution of federal projects.
