The Directorate of Science and Technology Program of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi (WUFPBK) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by hosting the 1st Directorate of Science and Technology Programmes (STPs) National Conference. The conference, themed "Accelerating Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation through Multi-Disciplinary Innovations and Technology in Nigeria," kicked off on November 12, 2024, at the new Lecture Theater, Mathematical Science Complex Building, Gesse Campus.

The opening ceremony was a resounding success, bringing together esteemed dignitaries such as former Rector Arc. Muhammad Sani Aliyu and Wazirin Gwandu, Umar Abdullahi Waziri. This convergence of experts fostered a rich environment for knowledge sharing and collaboration, setting the tone for the conference.

The technical session was particularly impressive, with participants sharing research ideas, findings, and expertise. Dr. Buhari Abdullahi Maiyama, Coordinating Director, DSTPs, highlighted the significance of this conference, noting that it's the first in the history of the directorate. The primary goal is to equip lecturers and staff with research opportunity for cutting-edge technological innovations, including Meta AI.

Dr. Maiyama expressed gratitude to the polytechnic management for their support and encouraged participants to leverage this opportunity to enhance their experience and expertise. The conference drew paper presenters and discussants from various departments and institutions nationwide and beyond, demonstrating its impact on the academic community.

Dr. Maiyama urged the polytechnic management to help sustain the conference quarterly or annually and called on stakeholders to invest in sponsoring such conferences. This ongoing event promises to further enhance the experience of upcoming lecturers, with its technical session continuing on November 13, 2024, at the NCE Sciences Hall A and B.

The conference's success underscores the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in achieving academic excellence. By fostering a culture of innovation and expertise in DSTPs and indeed WUFPBK as a whole, the conference is poised to make a lasting impact on Nigeria's socio-economic transformation.
