Kebbi State First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, emphasized the state government's commitment to girls' education, from nursery to tertiary levels. Speaking at the International Day of the Girl-Child celebration in Birnin Kebbi, she pledged sustained support for girls' education.
"The International Day of the Girl-Child celebrates girls everywhere, amplifying their voices and leadership," Hajiya Nasir said. "When you educate a girl child, you educate a nation."
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, noted that this year's theme, "Girls' Vision for the Future," aims to increase girls' enrollment in formal education.
Stakeholders, including NCWS, WRAPPA, FOMWAN, and CAN, delivered goodwill messages. The highlight was the distribution of writing materials, sanitary pads, and hijabs to students by the First Lady.
