The Kebbi Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA) sought synergy with the aviation industry on Tuesday to attract investment opportunities into Kebbi and Nigeria. Dr. Mohammed Kabir-Kamba, Director-General of KIPA, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Airport Manager of Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi.
He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for investment in Kebbi State. "We have planned to build the brand of Kebbi Investment Promotion Agency as well as the state. And Part of what we do is to build partnerships, collaboration, coordination and to establish a relationships with strategic organisations such as aviation industry," he said.
The Director-General noted that the airport is a strategic location, as most people passing through are high-profile individuals with the capacity to invest in Kebbi. He expressed optimism that the collaboration and partnership would bridge the gap between the two organisations and promote the state across all airports in Nigeria.
Dr. Kabir-Kamba highlighted Kebbi's strategic location at the gate of West Africa, with access to over 600 million people in the market. He emphasized the agency's focus on attracting investment in agriculture, energy, transformation, health, and education.
Responding, Airport Manager and permanent Secretary, Alhaji Habib Muhammad-Sabi appreciated the Director-General's visit and assured him of a viable partnership. He noted that the airport had been promoting investment into the state, citing the introduction of NG Ego Airline and Max Airline, with plans to expand to other airlines.
Muhammad-Sabi appealed to the Federal Government to complete the Cargo Terminal under construction at the airport, which has been stalled at the foundation stage.
This partnership aligns with KIPA's mission to drive economic growth and development in Kebbi State. By leveraging the airport space and building relationships with airlines, KIPA aims to create a conducive environment for investment and promote the state's potential.
