Niger State Governor Umaru Bago Attends 79th United Nations General Assembly

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State joined world leaders and representatives at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York, USA. The theme, "Summit of the Future," focuses on reshaping global priorities and accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Governor participated in the opening session, assessing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally and locally. Niger State, with its growing population of over 6 million, faces challenges in achieving the SDGs, particularly in health outcomes, sustainable development, and property reduction.

During the assembly, Governor Bago engaged in meetings and discussions to identify pathways for meeting SDGs 1, 2, 3, and 11. He emphasized the importance of technology, accountability, and partnerships in realizing these goals.

The Niger State Government plans to leverage its agricultural resources and investments to achieve its SDG's.
