FG Launches Digital Literacy Program in Niger State

The Federal Government has flagged off the "Digital Literacy for All" initiative in Minna, Niger State capital.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, launched the program sponsored by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Gov. Bago hailed the initiative as a welcome idea, emphasizing digital literacy's importance.
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, said the program is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to improve Nigerians' lives.
NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi explained the program aims to achieve 70% digital literacy by 2027.
Key components include:
- Information and data literacy
- Content creation for businesses
- Online safety
- Problem-solving
80 Corps members per state will be trained as champions, each retraining 600 people monthly.
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr. Faruk Yabo, hailed the launch as a significant milestone.
NYSC Director-General Brigadier-General Yusha'u Ahmed praised the collaboration.
Niger State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Alh. Suleiman Isah, noted the state's existing digital literacy curriculum and requested NITDA establish a National Center for Agro-tech.
