Kano State High Court has granted an interim injunction restraining 19 political parties from interfering with the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission's (KANSIEC) duties in organizing the upcoming local government election.
Justice Sunusi Ado Ma’aji issued the order on Tuesday after reviewing a Motion Exparte filed by KANSIEC, accompanied by a 28-paragraph affidavit and supporting exhibits. The defendants include:

- Action Alliance
- Action Democratic Party
- Action Peoples Party
- Africa Action Congress
- African Democratic Congress
- All Progressive Congress
- All Progressive Grand Alliance
- Allied Peoples Movement
- Boot Party
- Labour Party
- National Rescue Movement
- New Nigeria Peoples Party
- Peoples Democratic Party
- Peoples Redemption Party
- Social Democratic Party
- Young Progressive Party
- Young Party
- Zenith Labour Party
The judge's order prohibits these parties from taking any action that might frustrate KANSIEC's efforts to conduct the election, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. The case has been adjourned to October 10 for further hearing.
This development comes ahead of the local government election scheduled for November 30, 2024, with KANSIEC Chairman Prof. Sani Lawan asserting the commission's non-affiliation with any political party.
