1,000 Women Empowered by Kebbi First Lady on Independence Day

In a grand gesture to commemorate Nigeria's Independence Day, Kebbi State's First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has launched a transformative empowerment program for 1,000 women in Kalgo Local Government Area. The beneficiaries, drawn from Diggi, Mutubari, and Gayi communities, each received N20,000 and a 10kg bag of rice to boost their economic fortunes.

This initiative underscores the state's commitment to bridging the economic divide and fostering inclusive growth. By providing these women with vital resources, the First Lady aims to empower them to become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

During the occasion, the First Lady urged the beneficiaries to rally behind the current administration's policies and programs, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in driving progress. She also encouraged eligible citizens to procure their voter's cards, highlighting the significance of active participation in the democratic process. "Your involvement in governance is crucial to shaping the future of our state," she stressed.

Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Gunabi, Kebbi State Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), lauded the First Lady's gesture, describing it as a testament to her dedication to the welfare of women. "We commend the First Lady for her benevolence and urge all women in Kebbi State to remain steadfast in their support for the APC government," she said.

Hon. Yahaya Bala Kuka, Chairman of Kalgo Local Government, and Hon. Namashaya Diggi expressed their gratitude to the First Lady for the empowerment program, pledging their unwavering support for Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu's administration in 2027. "We are deeply grateful for the First Lady's kindness and assure her of our continued backing for the government," they said.

The coordinator of NASARA Foundation, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Bala, highlighted the scope of the empowerment program, noting that each beneficiary would receive a substantial cash grant and food support. Meanwhile, the Diggi District Head conferred on the First Lady the traditional title of Jagoran Matan Gundumar Diggi (Leader of Women in Diggi District) in recognition of her outstanding commitment to women empowerment and humanitarian service in the state.
