A Northeast Zonal Political Pressure Group, North East Youth Ambassadors, has criticized a gubernatorial aspirant in Bauchi for tarnishing the image of his political opponent, Senator Shehu Buba Umar. The group's Secretary-General, Mallam Bana Muhammad, described the aspirant's actions as "ridiculous and an art of cowardice."
According to Muhammad, the aspirant's decision to use a fake video to attack Senator Buba on social media is a sign of desperation and lack of confidence in his own abilities. "Why hide under the mask to perpetuate the atrocity?" Muhammad asked. "If the man is his salt, why hide under a cover to salvo the attack, why didn't he vent his anger, opposition, politico-aggrandisement, and political stupidity publicly?"
Muhammad questioned the aspirant's motives, asking if he was hired by another politician to serve as an errand boy or if he was genuinely interested in serving the people of Bauchi. "It is better you leap before jumping," Muhammad said, urging the aspirant to be more transparent and honest in his campaign.
The North East Youth Ambassadors' Secretary-General also challenged the aspirant to show that he is equal to the task of standing for election, rather than resorting to negative attacks on his opponents. "Let him show that he is equal to the task of standing elections," Muhammad said.
The group's criticism comes ahead of the 2027 polls, where Senator Buba is expected to face off against several gubernatorial aspirants in Bauchi.
