"Kebbi State Supports Windstorm Victims with N50m"

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has donated N50 million to support 266 households affected by a devastating windstorm in Zogirma, Bunza Local Government Area.

The Governor made the announcement during a sympathy visit to the community on Thursday, where he expressed deep concern over the incident.

"I came here to see things for myself, sympathize with the victims, and provide necessary support," Governor Idris said. "The State Government has already dispatched food relief items through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), which have been distributed to the victims."

The Governor directed community stakeholders to determine a fair and transparent method for distributing the N50 million donation based on the extent of damage each household suffered.

"I want the stakeholders to assess the level of damage for each victim and allocate the funds accordingly," he said.

During the visit, Governor Idris also announced several developmental commitments. He pledged to renovate the palace of the District Head of Zogirma and confirmed that the road in the area is currently undergoing reconstruction.

The Chairman of Bunza Local Government Area, Hon. Zayyanu Shehu, appreciated the Governor's timely intervention, confirming that 266 households, including public facilities like schools, were affected by the windstorm.

The District Head of Zogirma, Alhaji Tijjani Muhammad, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s visit and presented further requests for the renovation of the district’s palace, mosque, and school.

Governor Idris also commissioned the renovated palace of the District Head of Tilli, Alhaji Muhammad Jabbo.

Earlier, the Governor inspected the Bunza General Hospital and directed its immediate renovation. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving the healthcare sector.

"Since assuming office as Governor, I have absorbed over 500 health workers as permanent staff, and I have now directed that the 22 casual staff of this hospital also be absorbed as permanent employees," he said.
