The Special Adviser on Special Duties to Kebbi State Governor, Hon. Shafi’u Abubakar Zauro, has disbursed N8.5 million to Women APC Ward Leaders in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area. Each of the 15 women leaders received N500,000 to support their engagement in profitable ventures, as part of the administration’s empowerment initiative.
The event was held at the APC Kebbi Central Office in Birnin Kebbi, where Kebbi State APC Women Leader, Hajiya Aisha Gunabi, presented the funds to the beneficiaries. Gunabi urged the women to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Nasir Idris and his people-focused administration. "This gesture by Hon. Shafi’u is unprecedented. We commend him and encourage other office holders to emulate his generosity," she said.
Gunabi also advised the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and mobilize more women to support the party and the administration. "I advise the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and mobilize more women to support our party and the administration of our mentor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris," she added.
Hon. Shafi’u Zauro said the initiative aligns with the directive of Governor Nasir Idris that all political appointees must impact lives meaningfully. "Kauran Gwandu is the best governor Kebbi has ever had. His leadership has made it possible for us to empower others meaningfully," he said.
Zauro highlighted the difference between the current administration's empowerment initiatives and previous ones, saying, "Previously, women received only N5,000 or N10,000. Today, each woman is taking home N500,000 to invest and become self-reliant." He added that he plans to expand the scheme to reach more women.
APC Zonal Chairman, Kebbi Central, Alhaji Abubakar Bello Matawallen Bunza, praised Governor Idris for his commitment to grassroots development and commended Hon. Shafi’u Zauro for fulfilling his promise to empower APC women. "Governor Nasir Idris is a man of action and integrity. His humility and generosity are reflected in the actions of his appointees, and the party remains deeply grateful," he said.
