The Kaduna State Command of the Federal Fire Service has called on wealthy individuals and corporate organizations to support its operations to enhance the protection of lives and property in the state.
The appeal was made on Saturday during the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Theatre Hall at the Zaria City Area Command of the Service. The project is being sponsored by a Zaria-based philanthropist, Alhaji Magaji Dan Aljannah.
Speaking at the event, the Commandant, Federal Fire Service, Kaduna State Command, Deputy Controller of Fire, DCF Aminu Amadu, said such interventions were critical to boosting the Command’s emergency response capacity. "Support from well-meaning individuals forms part of humanitarian service that will strengthen our capacity to respond promptly to fire outbreaks and other emergencies," DCF Amadu stated.

He expressed gratitude to the Zaria Local Government Council for its previous support, particularly the allocation of land and the construction of the Zaria City Federal Fire Service Area Command. "I commend the Zaria Local Government Council for allocating land and constructing this Area Command. I also urge other affluent individuals to emulate the kind gesture of Alhaji Magaji Dan Aljannah and other stakeholders who have contributed to improving fire service delivery in this area," he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engineer Jamil Ahmed Jaga, disclosed that more support was on the way for the Command.
"The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, will soon donate firefighting equipment to the Zaria Area Command and to the Kaduna State Government," Engr. Jaga announced.
He added that the Speaker remains committed to providing the Command with necessary resources to enable it to discharge its mandate effectively. "The Speaker is fully committed to supporting the Fire Service so that it can continue to save the lives and property of citizens," Engr. Jaga said.
The groundbreaking ceremony attracted representatives of the military, other paramilitary agencies, non-governmental organizations, firefighting stakeholders, and well-wishers.
Officials at the event described the proposed Theatre Hall as a significant boost to training and operational readiness for firefighters in Zaria and its environs.
