NO EVICTION ORDER FOR TRACTOR ASSOCIATION, KEBBI GOVT CLARIFIES VIRAL NOTICE

Governor Idris Orders Traders to Remain at Business Premises

The Kebbi State Government has debunked a viral notice alleging the eviction of members of the Tractor Association in Birnin Kebbi, and directed them to continue operating from their present location without fear.
Governor Nasir Idris issued the directive on Wednesday after a false report surfaced online claiming that the association had been asked to vacate its business premises in the state capital.
To address the concerns, the Governor dispatched a team of senior officials to the site for immediate clarification.
Addressing the traders, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Hayatuddeen Bawa Jega, said no government agency issued the said notice.
“I saw the report on Facebook and promptly reached out to the General Manager of KUDA to confirm its authenticity,” Jega said.  “He confirmed that neither KUDA nor any government body issued such a directive. Shortly afterwards, His Excellency Governor Nasir Idris called me after seeing the same post on social media.”
The Commissioner added that the Governor’s position was clear and direct.  “The Governor stated emphatically that he has not approved the eviction of any trader. He instructed that you should stay in your current location and carry on with your legitimate businesses,” Jega stated.
He praised the Governor’s quick response to the matter.  “We appreciate Governor Idris for his compassion and his commitment to protecting the welfare of the people. He remains a leader who places the economic wellbeing of citizens first,” he said.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, cautioned against spreading unverified information.
“I urge members of the association to seek clarification from appropriate government channels instead of depending on rumours on social media,” Yakubu said.
He linked the false report to political actors.  “Some individuals with political interests are using social media to circulate lies intended to mislead the public and tarnish the image of this administration as we approach the 2027 elections,” he alleged.
The Commissioner reiterated the government’s development agenda.  “Governor Nasir Idris is committed to responsive, compassionate and inclusive governance. This administration will continue to roll out programmes that improve the living conditions of the people of Kebbi State,” he said.
He further called for continued public support.  “I appeal to the association and the general public to keep supporting and cooperating with the government so that we can build on the progress already achieved for the overall development of the state,” he added.
In his response, the Chairman of the Tractor Association, Alhaji Faruq Umar, thanked the Governor for his prompt intervention.
“We thank Governor Nasir Idris for acting swiftly and giving us assurance,” Faruq said.  “His directive has brought relief to our members and restored our confidence. We will continue to support this government as we go about our lawful business.”
The delegation to the site also included the General Manager of the Kebbi State Urban Development Authority, KUDA.
