Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has expressed the readiness of his administration to work with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, in strengthening security and promoting cultural development.

The governor made the commitment on Tuesday while hosting members of Senior Executive Course 48 of the institute during a courtesy call at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The delegation was led by Mrs. Nima Salman, a Director at the institute. While addressing the participants, Governor Idris said Kebbi remains committed to collaborations that would advance Nigeria’s growth. “Kebbi State is fully prepared to partner with NIPSS, Kuru, for the progress and development of our nation, Nigeria,” he said.

“I urge you to extend your visit to Zuru and Yauri before departing, so you can have a direct experience of the richness and diversity of our cultural heritage,” he added.

The governor listed some of Kebbi’s signature cultural events to illustrate the state’s heritage. “Kebbi is globally known for the Argungu Fishing Festival. We also celebrate the Uhola Cultural Festival in Zuru, the Regatta in Yauri, and the Hutungo Festival in Gwandu Emirate,” he explained.

Governor Idris further granted all the requests tabled by the delegation. The requests include the construction of a residential flat at the NIPSS campus in Kuru, financial assistance for the institute’s security, and other forms of support.

He lauded NIPSS for sustaining its standing as one of Nigeria’s most credible institutions, noting its record of integrity.  “The institute has built a strong reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions, free from certificate forgery and committed to upholding high standards of membership,” Governor Idris stated.
In her earlier remarks, the leader of the delegation, Mrs. Nima Salman, said the visit was part of the course programme designed to study the cultural values of Kebbi State. “We are in Kebbi to understudy the state’s rich cultural heritage. This is part of the programme for all participants of this course,” she said.

Mrs. Salman also conveyed the requests of the Director General of NIPSS.  “Our requests include the construction of a residential flat at the institute in Kuru, financial support for the security of NIPSS, your attendance at the presentation of the Course 48 report, and the turbaning ceremony of Professor Muhammad Bande as the District Head of Besse,” she stated.

She applauded the Kebbi State Government for the warm reception given to the team since their arrival.
“We appreciate the hospitality extended to us by the state government. It reflects Kebbi’s commitment to supporting national institutions and development,” Mrs. Salman added.
