Kebbi APC Executives Meet to Bridge Gaps, Strategize For 2027 Polls
By Umar Faruk
Members of the State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kebbi State have converged to deliberate on internal affairs and map out plans for the 2027 general elections. The session took place on Friday at the party’s state secretariat located opposite the former NITEL office in GRA, Birnin Kebbi.
Addressing newsmen after the deliberations, the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Political and Electricity Matters, Kabir Sani Giant, said the meeting was aimed at fostering unity and cohesion within the party.
"We give glory to God for making it possible for us to meet today, Friday. It was necessary for us to brief the media on the outcome of the State APC Executive meeting held at the party secretariat," Kabir Giant stated.
"The purpose of our gathering as EXCO members was to determine the way forward, prepare for the 2027 elections, strengthen our unity, and operate as one united family under the APC," he added.
According to the governor’s aide, the meeting created room for frank discussions and consensus building among party leaders. "We came together to tackle some internal matters affecting the party and to close ranks among members so we can work in unity and present a common front," he said.
He disclosed that the meeting was convened on the instruction of Governor Nasir Idris to address emerging concerns. "Beyond that, we also met to correct certain observations. As the SA on Political Affairs, I was mandated by Governor Nasir Idris to come to the state secretariat and meet with the state executives for this crucial engagement," he explained.
"Based on the deliberations and the concerns raised, I am convinced that most of the issues raised by members have now been resolved," he added.
Kabir Giant and the acting State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie, jointly expressed appreciation to the state governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his support in making the meeting possible.
"We sincerely thank His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for giving us the opportunity and the necessary support to convene this meeting," Kabir Giant said.
"He has consistently shown commitment to the unity and progress of our party. It is through his leadership that we are able to identify issues early and address them before they escalate," he added.
Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie, on his part, said the governor’s intervention has helped to strengthen internal democracy within the party. "The governor’s support has given us the platform to sit together, discuss our challenges, and find lasting solutions. This will go a long way in repositioning the party ahead of 2027," the acting chairman said.
Kabir Giant praised the acting State Chairman and other executive members for their commitment during the meeting. "The level of cooperation and support we received from the acting State Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie, and his team gives me confidence that we have successfully narrowed the differences," he said.
"We will now move forward with greater unity and cooperation within the party, and ensure that our collective efforts translate to success for the APC in 2027," he stated.
The Special Adviser dismissed reports of division within the party, describing the meeting as a routine effort to keep members engaged. "There is no crisis or division in the party. We only deemed it fit to convene this meeting to allow state executives to share their views and to strategize on how best to approach the next general elections," he said.
He stressed that early engagement would help prevent minor issues from escalating. "Through meetings like this, we can detect any challenge at the party level and address it promptly before it becomes bigger," he noted.
Kabir Giant further revealed that he had embarked on visits to local government areas to consult with party executives and identify challenges at the grassroots. "I have visited several local governments to interface with EXCO members and ascertain if there are issues that require urgent attention," he said.
He charged all registered members of the APC in Kebbi to remain loyal and intensify mobilization efforts ahead of 2027. "I urge all bonafide APC members to stay committed to the party and redouble their efforts. With the 2027 elections drawing closer, we must work together to ensure victory for our party and for all our candidates in every elective position," he concluded.
