ARGUNGU - The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, CON, has declared support to Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State for a second term, saying the administration deserves more time to build on its current achievements.
The monarch gave the endorsement on over the weekend during a courtesy visit by members of the Governor’s media team to his palace in Argungu.

Alhaji Mera said the traditional council was solidly behind the governor due to what he described as visible and quality projects across Kebbi.  “It is very clear that we are in support of His Excellency, the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu,” the Emir said.

“We are witnessing standard projects and an improvement in the welfare of the people. He has invested considerable effort and resources to move the state forward.” The royal father assessed the last three years of the administration as remarkable. “What has happened in Kebbi in the past three years is excellent. I don’t think anyone can dispute that,” he said.

“Kauran Gwandu is the right choice. His Excellency is a man of peace, and as traditional rulers, it is only proper that we give him our full support.” He prayed for God’s guidance for the governor to continue his work. “As I said earlier, he deserves a second term. That is why we are here to back him, Insha Allah, and ensure it comes to pass. It is his time. It is his turn,” Emir Mera stated. “Our prayer is that Almighty Allah continues to guide him, protect him, and grant him the opportunity to sustain the good work for our people.”

The Emir called on residents of Kebbi to rally behind Governor Idris to maintain peace and sustain ongoing development.
He also assured the delegation that the Argungu Emirate would keep supporting government policies aimed at raising the profile of the state locally and internationally.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, who led the delegation, said the visit was part of an outreach to thank stakeholders for their support of the administration.

The Commissioner described Governor Idris as the most impactful governor in the history of Kebbi. “The governor has recorded major milestones in different sectors,” Birnin Kebbi said.

“He has employed over 2,000 teachers, restored CONMESS wages for doctors to match federal standards, and upgraded 30 general hospitals to bring healthcare closer to rural communities.”On security and economic development, he said the deployment of more than 1,000 security personnel, supported with Hilux vans and motorcycles, had returned calm to farming communities.

He added that the state’s solid minerals profile had grown from 27 to over 30 deposits, and that talks were ongoing with investors from China, Brazil, and Indonesia. “Plans are also underway for a lithium processing plant in Kebbi, which is projected to create more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs for our people,” he said.
