BREAKING: Zamfara Reinstates Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Rector

GUSAU -  The Zamfara State Government has reinstated Dr. Surajo Abdullahi Shinkafi as the substantive Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara.  


The reinstatement takes effect immediately, according to a statement issued on Wednesday, 30th July 2026.  


The announcement was contained in a circular signed by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Abubakar Mohammed, PhD, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government.  


The statement said the decision followed a review of the issues that led to Dr. Shinkafi’s suspension.  “This is to notify the general public that His Excellency, the Executive Governor has approved the reinstatement of Dr. Surajo Abdullahi Shinkafi as Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, with immediate effect,” the statement said.
  
“This follows a careful review of the circumstances that led to his suspension.” 

The government directed the reinstated rector to report to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. “The reinstated Rector is hereby directed to report to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and resume responsibilities as the substantive Rector of the Polytechnic,” it added.  

Dr. Shinkafi’s return is expected to restore stability to the polytechnic’s administration.  


The development comes amid calls by staff and students for the quick resolution of the leadership crisis at the institution.
