BREAKING: Kebbi Judge Kidnapped At Home In Bunza, Police Deploy Rescue Teams

By Umar FaruK

BUNZA - Armed men suspected to be kidnappers in the early hours of Sunday abducted Hon. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of High Court 4, Kebbi State High Court of Justice, from his home on Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area.

A family source told our Correspondent that the attack occurred at about 12:00am on Saturday night shortly after the judge returned from a trip to Sokoto.

“Justice Faruku Hassan had just returned from Sokoto. The moment he got to his house around midnight, gunmen stormed the place and took him away. No one in the house or among the neighbours was hurt, but the attackers were shouting loudly and residents around Zogirma Road in Bunza heard the commotion,” the family source said.

The source added that the abductors succeeded in taking the judge away before anyone could intervene. “Immediately the incident occurred, we reported to the appropriate authorities, including the leadership of the High Court,” the source stated.

The family has called for urgent action and prayers for the safe release of the judge.

“We are deeply worried over the abduction of our brother. We appeal to members of the public to pray for his safe return. We also urge government and security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the High Court Judge from his captors,” the relative said.

A senior official of the Kebbi State High Court, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident and described it as a sad development for the judiciary.  “I am not authorized to speak formally, but this is a painful moment for us. To hear that one of our judge was kidnapped at his residence on Zogirma Road in Bunza is very disturbing,” the court official said.
“I can confirm that the management of the High Court has already met with heads of security agencies in the state to strategize on securing his immediate release,” the official added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction to our correspondent.  “I can confirm that Hon. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza was abducted from his residence in Bunza around midnight. On receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadijeja, immediately deployed tactical and intelligence operatives to ensure his safe rescue,” SP Usman said.

He disclosed that a manhunt was already underway.  “As we speak, our personnel are combing identified locations, including forest areas, to ensure that the judge is rescued alive and unharmed,” the PPRO stated.

No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction as of the time of filing this report. Security agencies said investigations are ongoing.
